RCP68C main reader for contact chip cards
Application
RCP68C reader for contact identity cards (electronic memory chip cards) is destined to work in RCPX8 working time registration and access control (an exemplary blueprint is in the manual.) RCP68C reader is designed to register such events as entry/exit/exit on duty and to control the access to machines and buildings. Every entry/exit event is stored in the reader's memory. At a request, the data from a reader can be sent to a computer through the serial bus.
Electronic cards reader may also work outside RCPX8 system network (stand-alone system) and register the occurring events. It is possible thanks to the storage of a configuration, of a table of access rights for every employee and of an internal/INNER time-clock supplied by a battery, in the reader's memory. In this case, a contact between the reader and the computer is required for the time of the proper configuration of the reader.
Construction
RCP68C reader has a compact steel cage, fit for installation on a wall. The opening of the installed device is possible only by means of a special key. The reader is equipped with an electronic microprocessor circuit. It has an independent time-clock with supply maintenance.
Operation principle
Placing an authorized identity card in a special slotted hole in the reader (a place on the cover described by a special graphics) causes registration of an event in the reader's memory. Readers control the access to rooms rooms by starting e.g. an electrical door lock. The non-volatile memory allows to register approx. 40 000 events. The events registered are analyzed by a computer program as RCP events (work time) or KD (access control) – depending on how the reader has been configured.
The front wall of the reader is equipped with a three-key keypad, three signalling LEDs, four-sign display, and a marked slotted hole in which a contact identity card has to be placed in order to regster an event. By pressing appropriate key, the event which is to be registered is specified (the reader can be set to work without any need to use the keypad.) The display shows present date and hour and, in a moment of registration of an employee, also the employee's number.
