RCP78WR converter of RCPX8 system
Application
The converter is an indispensable part of RCPX8 system. It should be placed near the computer in which RCP58 program will be installed. In RCPX8 system it has three roles: firstly, it enables to introduce easily personal identity cards to the system's data base; secondly, it is an intermediary in communication between a computer and a network of main readers (conversion of RS232 into RS485); thirdly, it provides galvanic insulation between the computer and the network of main readers.
Construction
RCP78WR converter is equipped with an electronic microprocessor chip. It also has a built-in RS232/485 converter. There are two wires: one of them ending with DB9 to be connected with COM port in the computer, the other one is RJ12 to be connected with LPS1 wall terminal of RCPX8 system.
The principle of operation
RCP78WR converter, due to its galvanic insulation, is supplied on two sides. On the side of the readers (RS485) the voltage of 12V is supplied – the same which supplies the main readers. On the computer side there are special, energy-saving electronic chips, which make it possible to supply this part directly from the computer's port, without an additional power supply device. The converter works fully automatically.
